Railroads
Thanks to the absence of contact with the measured object, laser scanning is an ideal
technology for topographical surveys of rail tracks: whatever the traffic is on the rail line, laser scanning allows rail
surveys, ballast, catenaries, construction works, while minimizing measurement duration (1 million points in seconds / minutes,
depending on the system used). All of the objects are therefore «photographed in 3D» in one time working on the field.
The immediate results of the measurements are X, Y, Z point clouds which represent the space, used as a base for 3D (or 2D) design: profile extraction in length, cross sections, etc.
For projects:
- doubling tracks,
- restoration of old rail tracks,
- construction works and tunnels inspection
Benefits of the method:
- Measurements in perfect safety conditions,
- No traffic disruption,
- Results can be used immediately,
- 3D modeling of the infrastructures,
- Surveys and 3D inspections of tunnels,
- Digital models of the land,
- Modeling of side tracks,
- Accuracy and tolerance are adapted to different types of surveys.
